Metropolitan Nashville District Energy System

SSR received this award for its work on the Metropolitan Nashville District Energy System, a new facility that replaced the previous waste-burning plant that had been operated since 1974 by the Nashville Thermal Transfer Corporation. As the lead engineering firm on the project, SSR provided engineering planning, design, construction administration and commissioning services.  Constellation Energy Source of Baltimore was the project’s developer and is now responsible for operating NDES. SSR led the design team, which included Everton Oglesby Architects and Structural Affiliates International. The construction team was led by Nashville Machine Co. and included RC Mathews and Travis Electric Co. Constellation Energy Source opened the new plant seven months ahead of schedule and under budget.  The plant recently completed a successful first year of operation.
