SSR Ellers takes home first-ever city of Memphis Engineer’s Award of Excellence
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The transportation team of SSR Ellers was recently recognized by industry peers for excellence in its transportation services related to project work and employee leadership.
The Walnut Grove Road/Interstate 240 roadway redevelopment won SSR Ellers the first-ever City of Memphis Engineer’s Award of Excellence for its planning, design and construction administration. With a large number of stakeholders, SSR Ellers successfully managed a multi-year design and construction process by utilizing continuous, two-way communications that included an opt-in public newsletter, series of email alerts and publics meetings, resulting in the project’s early completion. This recognition was recently given during the annual awards banquet for the Memphis Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE).
In addition, Patrick Smith, team leader for the transportation division of SSR Ellers, received the TSPE 2009 Young Engineer Award. Smith was selected because of his outstanding professional leadership involving the construction management of the Walnut Grove Road project.
