5/30/2008

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), a leading engineering design and facility consulting firm with offices throughout the United States, will open its 12th office in Orlando on June 2.

“Orlando is a thriving city, and we look forward to playing a role in its growth,” said Rob Barrick, CEO of Smith Seckman Reid. “As our opportunities in central Florida continue to develop, having an Orlando office will make doing business more efficient and convenient for our clients.”

The office will be located at 485 N. Keller Road, Suite 171, Maitland, Fla., 32751. Earlier this year, SSR opened its 11th office in Tampa.

SSR already has landed several contracts to provide engineering design services for projects in the Orlando area, including the Orlando Events Center, Contemporary Suites Hotel, Villages Independent Living Facility, Villages Skilled Nursing Facility, Chambrel at Pinecastle Memory Care Facility as well as a peer review of Kindred Hospital in Melbourne.

Projects that SSR has completed in the surrounding area include Saratoga Springs Resort, Coronado Springs Resort Exhibit Hall, University of Central Florida Arena and Jacksonville Arena. SSR served as facility operations consultant on the Alltell Stadium.

The new Orlando office will provide a wide array of engineering design and facility consulting services including: MEP engineering design, communication and technology system planning and design, regulatory compliance support, commissioning, LEED facilitation and sustainable design. Additional company-core services such as civil, structural, transportation and process controls and automation also are available.

SSR has offices in Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville, Tenn.; Ft. Lauderdale, Sarasota and Tampa, Fla.; Houston and Dallas, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Hernando, Miss. The new Orlando office is in line with growth goals laid out in the firm’s 10-year strategic plan for growing and diversifying SSR.

Key management in the new office will include Don Netinho, PE, office manager, Fred Polacek, PE, senior client manager, and Bob Mueller, senior project manager.
