FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – SSR has hired Erik Walter as mechanical engineer in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office.

As both mechanical engineer and project manager on assignments, Walter is responsible for the design of healthcare, institutional and commercial products.

Previously, he worked as a mechanical engineer for TLC Engineering for Architecture and the Meinhardt Group; both in Fort Lauderdale. His experience includes work on LEED certified buildings, thermal storage, chilled water systems, smoke control, kitchen hood exhaust and laboratory fume hood exhaust. 

Walter is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He is heavily involved with ASHRAE’s Fort Lauderdale chapter, holding positions on the executive committee for seven years, and was recently elected chapter president.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
