SSRCx Awarded Continuous Commissioning® Platform Approval from Texas A&M University

2/5/2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn.– SSRCx has become the 4th commissioning firm in the country to be approved to utilize the Continuous Commissioning® platform developed by Texas A&M University. The process gives SSRCx an enhanced ability to resolve operating problems, improve comfort and optimize energy use for existing commercial and institutional buildings and central plant facilities.

“Making sure all existing buildings are operating at an optimal level for energy conservation is just as important as constructing a new LEED certified building,” said Mike Coyne, managing principal of SSRCx. “The Continuous Commissioning® process will allow us to expand our skills in the areas of sustainability and retro-commissioning to better serve our clients.”

Continuous Commissioning® focuses on improving the overall system control and operations for a building through a comprehensive engineering evaluation based on actual conditions. The evolving process includes two phases to identify the project scope and verify the project performance. After implementing the process in 1996, Texas A&M University has seen a 30% reduction in energy usage across 300 campus buildings.

“We are very pleased to have SSRCx join us as our latest partner in the field of existing building commissioning,” said Dr. Dan Turner, former Director of the Energy Systems Laboratory at Texas A&M University, and one of the co-developers of the Continuous Commissioning® process. “SSRCx has a very solid reputation in new building commissioning, and moving more heavily into the commissioning of existing buildings is a natural fit for them.”
