Following a stellar career in college baseball, Steve joined Lewis Engineers in 1978.  In 1983 SSR bought Lewis Engineers, and Steve became head of the civil/environmental department. Steve served for many years in a variety of operational leadership roles for many years prior to being named as Chief Operating Officer in 2012 and President in 2015. He succeeded Rob Barrick as the third Chief Executive Officer of the company in 2018.

Steve is a leader in the environmental engineering field and an expert in wastewater treatment design. His technical and service achievements have been recognized by his peers. Steve was named a Fellow by the American Council of Engineering Companies. In 2008, the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers named him “Outstanding Engineer of the Year” and he has also been designated as a Diplomat by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.

Steve graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering in 1978. In 1991, he earned his Master of Engineering degree in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He is a registered professional engineer in 15 states.

Steve is an active participant in local community causes including Leadership Nashville, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee, and the Ronald McDonald House. In his spare time, Steve is an avid outdoors man, golfer, and sports spectator.
