Speeding Up Hospital Construction

|

Medical Construction & Design recently featured an article on the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s (UT Southwestern) recently completed work on a $800 million expansion facility, located in Dallas, TX.  The UT Southwestern William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital was necessary to meet the growing needs of patient demands. The new facility consists of 12 floors and 460 single-patient rooms spread across 1.3 million SF.

The facility was focused on the patient’s medical care from the beginning, with special emphasis placed on the design to ensure the most effective and innovative ways to enhance the patient’s experience.  In addition, UT Southwestern utilized Lean construction practices, BIM, and prefabrication to meet a fast tracked schedule.

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. served as the MEP engineers on the project.
