After beginning his career in the water and sewer equipment business, Rob came to SSR in the fall of 1974 as a mechanical engineer. By 1982, he was named head of the mechanical engineering department. Rob was tapped to start a branch office in Houston, Texas that opened in 1984. After serving 29 years as President and Chief Executive Officer, Rob now serves as Board Chairman and Senior Principal.

Rob is known for his ability to produce unique and innovative solutions for projects that are often challenging and complex. He has continued to lead the strategic direction of the firm, which include initiating new markets and developing partnerships that promote SSR’s growth, expansion, and diversification.

Rob graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1974, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to his alma mater for graduate studies and earned a Master of Business Administration in 1983. He is a registered professional engineer in 15 states.

Rob is an adjunct professor at Vanderbilt University and an active and engaged community leader around Nashville.  He founded The Nashville Food Project, is a Leadership Nashville alumnus, and serves on the board for Room at the Inn. He is also a former Nashville Code of Appeals board member and currently serves as board member for the Adventure Science Center and Students Taking a Right Stand (STAR). In 2003, the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers named him “Engineer of the Year”.

In his spare time, you will find Rob hunting, golfing, and restoring old sports cars.
