Eight Selected to Participate in SSR’s Summer Intern Program
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) a leader among engineering firms in designing, consulting, and commissioning projects introduces the eight participants in the 2016 summer internship program. Covering three of the firm’s major service lines, the program lasts two to three months with interns gaining valuable, hands-on experience working on projects that reinforce the fundamental skills they are learning in school.
Timothy Gile and Tyler Christian are mechanical interns in the firm’s Nashville office under Kevin Graham, PE, LEED AP, Mechanical Discipline Leader. They will have the opportunity to work on various projects during their internships, including healthcare and sports/entertainment projects.
Gile is currently attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He is expected to graduate in 2017 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. Christian is a current student at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN studying Mechanical Engineering.
Cody Swayze and Sam Schlecht are electrical interns in the firm’s Nashville office under Scott Terry, PE, Electrical Discipline Leader. They will have the opportunity to work on various projects during their internships, including healthcare and sports/entertainment projects.
Swayze is an honors student at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN. He is studying to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, with a concentration in power systems and building design. Schlecht is a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in Omaha, NE. He is currently enrolled in the schools Masters of Architectural Engineering program and is expected to graduate in May 2017.
Erik Van Aller is an electrical intern in the firm’s Houston office under Kevin Wolfford, CBD, Senior Principal. He will have the opportunity to work on various projects during his internships, including healthcare and educational facilities.
Van Aller is a student at the University of Houston studying Electrical Engineering. He is expected to graduate in December 2016.
Sara “Reggie” Raney and Juan Sanchez are civil interns in the firm’s Memphis office under Ian Engstrom, PE, Operations Manager for the Infrastructure Program. Both will be involved in various site design and transportation projects during their time with SSR.
Raney attends Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN, where she is majoring in Civil Engineering with a minor in Sustainability. She is expected to graduate in May of 2017. Sanchez is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Memphis. He expects to graduate in May of 2017.
Katherine Ferrer is interning in the firm’s Marketing Department. During the summer internship program, she will have an opportunity to assist the department in project pursuits, content improvement, and internal projects. Ferrer is an undergraduate student at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. She is pursuing a degree in Public Relations and anticipates graduating in December 2016.
