Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) a leader among engineering firms in designing, consulting, and commissioning projects is pleased to announce that David Simmons, PE, LEED AP, and George Montgomery, EIT, have joined the firm in the growing MEP group. Simmons will be a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the firm’s Sarasota office; Montgomery will join our growing team in Orlando as a Mechanical EIT.

“We are excited to have David join our team here in Florida,” said Jorge Rivera, PE, LEED AP, Senior Project Manager. “With his past industrial experience, we intend make business development inroads with industrial clients to weave this line of work in our repertoire.”

Simmons comes to SSR with over 30 years of industry experience managing both teams of engineers and client relations. His project experience includes work with the federal government, as well as private healthcare, commercial, and educational clients. Simmons earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington (Arlington, TX) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Alabama (Mobile, AL). He is a professional engineer registered in five states, a registered LEED AP BD+C from the U.S. Green Building Council, and a certified Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP) through ASHRAE.

“George comes to us very motivated to learn everything he can about buildings and to specialize in engineering for buildings,” said Rivera. “He comes with two year of experience and is an Eagle Scout, we have no doubt he will go far to achieve goals.”

Montgomery joins SSR as a young engineer with recent experience in design and project management. He has been involved in the mechanical design work for central energy plants and cooling towers, as well as some commercial experience. Montgomery is a graduate of the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL) where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
