SSR Memphis Gains Two Civil Engineers
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), a leader among engineering firms in designing, consulting, and commissioning projects, has hired George Holliday, PE, and Taylor Smith, EI, to work in the firm’s Horizontal program in the Memphis office. Holliday joins the firm as a senior civil engineer and Smith as a civil EI.
Holliday brings nearly 40 years of experience in the management of water resources, drainage, site development, survey, construction, and transportation related projects. He is familiar with the City of Memphis and Memphis Light, Gas, and Water, as well as both the Mississippi and Tennessee Departments of Transportation. Holliday graduated from the University of Memphis with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He was the recipient of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers, Memphis Chapter, Distinguished Service Award in 2013.
“There is no substitute for experience, and George brings a ton,” said Patrick Smith, Senior Principal. “I am pleased to have someone join SSR that can truly be a mentor for our design staff.”
Smith is a recent graduate of Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. While in school she gained valuable experience working with AutoCAD, FlowMaster, and ArcGIS.
“Taylor brings a fresh perspective to our design staff,” said Smith. “She is passionate about sustainable design which is indicative of the current trends.”
