SSRCx Expands into Building Enclosure Commissioning

NASHVILLE, TN – June 19, 2013 – SSRCx, the facilities commissioning and sustainability consulting branch of Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), has hired Richard “Rick” Ziegler, PE, to extend the company’s service line to include building enclosure commissioning (BECx).

Ziegler comes to SSRCx with five years of experience providing building enclosure services. He has a degree in Engineering Physics from Juniata College in Pennsylvania. Most recently Ziegler was a regional office manager for Architectural Testing, Inc. (ATI) where he was responsible for all BECx, field testing, and retro-commissioning projects and staff. His work on a wide variety of projects, including hospitals and medical centers, government buildings, data centers, museums, educational facilities, and libraries, has given him experience with all major building enclosure systems. Ziegler developed and standardized numerous BECx documentation and protocols with several test methods now common to the building enclosure industry.

Mike Coyne, Senior Principal for SSRCx, said that “Building enclosure commissioning is a rapidly expanding section of our offerings, and one that we have had to utilize a sub-consultant.” BECx is a quality assurance check designed to verify that building enclosure meets the predetermined requirements set forward by the facility’s owner.
