MEPT Program Continues to Expand with Two Mechanical Personnel and One Construction Administrator

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc., an engineering design and facility consulting firm, announces that they have hired three senior personnel in the Houston office. Nathen Maddox, Mark Pontz, PE, and Jim Vangorder join the firms expanding MEPT program. Maddox will serve as a senior mechanical designer. Pontz will take on responsibilities as the mechanical department head. Vangorder will serve as a senior construction administrator.

Maddox is experienced with both Autocad and Revit design software, having worked on a variety of facility types, including healthcare, government, commercial, and data centers. He is a graduate of Houston Community College where he majored in drafting.

Pontz, a 30 year industry veteran, has extensive experience designing mechanical systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial facilities. He also has experience in providing commissioning services. As a department head, Pontz will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of all mechanical engineers and designers in the Houston office.

“Mark is one of those rare finds in the industry,” said Kevin Wolfford, Regional Operations Director with SSR. “He brings to SSR not only his engineering design experience, but also the hands on construction experience he gained while previously leading a dynamic design build firm.”

Pontz attended Pennsylvania State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He is a professional engineer registered in ten states.

Vangorder brings nearly 30 years of industry experience, including 13 in construction administration and management. He has extensive knowledge working on commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare facilities. Vangorder attended Houston Community College and North Harris County College. Additionally, he served in the United State Air Force.

“We are very excited to have these three senior level gentlemen join our firm,” Wolfford stated. “They bring an extremely high level of competency balanced with practical hands on experience. It’s a rare opportunity to have three individuals with this type of senior experience join us at the same time.”
