The Sheikh Zayed Tower and The Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center
Johns Hopkins Hospital is consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the nation. This project, which includes two adjacent 12-story towers, helps Johns Hopkins continue to provide cutting edge healthcare to a growing number of patients.
The Sheikh Zayed Tower, which focuses on cardiovascular and critical care, includes 355 patient rooms and state-of-the-art-technology services to improve patient care and experience. The adjacent Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center focuses on pediatric and women’s care. It houses 205 private inpatient rooms, 45-bed NICU, 40-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), telecommunications consult facilities, and a pediatric psychiatry unit, among others.
SSR provided comprehensive planning design and specification of communication systems for the clinical building. Systems include structured cabling for voice, data, video, and patient monitoring; wireless LAN; wireless telephone; internal cellular; pocket page; computing devices; TV, radio and entertainment systems; CATV/MATV; RFID/personnel and asset tracking; telemedicine and video conferences; audio-visual presentation systems; nurse call; and code blue.
