Auburn Wellness Center
Colleges and universities across the country compete to recruit the best and brightest students on many levels. Students consider not just a school’s academic offerings, but also look for a strong student life community and a healthy campus environment. One way schools are setting themselves apart is by providing vibrant recreation environments that promote the physical and mental well-being of their students. Auburn University is no exception. In 2010 the university determined a need for a new student activity and wellness center and enlisted SSR to commission the state-of-the-art facility. The systems involved in a wellness center are fairly basic but special attention was necessary in some of the mixed use space. The project was delay during construction and SSR had to adapt to a new schedule to help finish the project on time for the 2014 academic year. SSR commissioned the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. All deficiency items identified were addressed, and systems commissioned were found to be operating correctly per the contract documents and design intent.
