Las Vegas, Nevada
SSR has partnered with HNTB, Manica, and Mortenson McCarthy Joint Venture (MMcJV) in the development of a new state-of-the-art stadium for the Las Vegas Raiders NFL franchise. After many years of calling Oakland home, the Raiders will relocate to Las Vegas in the summer of 2020, and we are excited to play an important role in the creation of their new home. Committed to being in Las Vegas in 2020, the two main challenges on the project have been the aggressive design and construction schedule and the project budget. To meet these challenges, SSR teamed with qualified and talented mechanical and electrical subcontractors for an integrated design-assist delivery. This integrated approach allowed for collaboration to maintain project schedule and actively maintain cost certainty related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. This integrated approach even extended to the production of the permit drawings and construction BIM. SSR and our design-assist partners utilized common BIM models for the development of the project. At the end of the day, the GMP was successfully established in a 13 month period and the permit drawings were completed in just 16 weeks, which was a major accomplishment for a project of this scope and magnitude.
When it opens, the stadium will be an iconic home to the Raiders with 61,788 seats and 106 VIP suites and easily expandable to 67,000 seats to host a future Super Bowl and other world-clas events. In addition, key features to the design include the translucent ETFE roof covering 60% of the total stadium area, movable natural grass playing field, 120’ wide by 80’ high operable wall at the north end with views to the Las Vegas strip, and the torch located in the peristyle club in memory of longtime team owner, Al Davis. SSR is proud to be part of the Raiders’ family and share in their “Commitment to Excellence.”
