An All-Star Peer Review

In preparation for its 2023 All Star weekend, the NBA reached out to SSR to provide a structural peer review of a temporary structured cable bridge carrying television and audio cables into Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, UT. The bridge crossed a major, six-lane road that ran alongside the arena. The NBA sent our structural team a set of drawings and calculations for the bridge to review and offer comments and feedback. After reviewing the drawings, our team offered some changes and worked with the NBA as its plans for the weekend evolved. Over the course of two weeks, our team had meetings with the NBA, contractor, and designer to review the changes and eventually got everything approved.

Drawings show the final bridge structure: five scaffolding towers with three spans, one going over a sidewalk and two, 70-foot spans over the roadway.
