Energy codes and beyond-code rating systems are increasing the need for energy models to demonstrate building energy performance. However, when left to the end of the design process, energy modeling can be seen simply as a necessary evil. This presentation will describe the benefits and use cases of creating energy models early and often in the design process, as well as how the new ASHRAE Standard 209-2018 could revolutionize the design and construction industry.
