SSR Joins International WELL Building Institute as Cornerstone Member

|

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), a leader among engineering firms in designing, consulting, and commissioning projects, is pleased to announce we are a Cornerstone member of the International WELL Building InstituteTM (IWBITM).  SSR joins like-minded companies who are leading the movement to advance human health in buildings and communities around the world. The intention of the IWBI to “transform our buildings and communities in ways that help people thrive.”

“SSR aims to help our clients and communities become healthy, resilient, and ultimately more sustainable. Joining the IWBI as a Cornerstone member will advance this mission to make a positive difference in our communities.”

The IWBI certification for buildings, the WELL Building Standard (WELL), is the standard for buildings, interior spaces, and communities seeking to implement, validate, and measure features that support and advance human health and wellness. The standard is focused on how buildings, and everything in them, can improve our comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance — not compromise — our well-being. SSR is currently on the project team for several registered projects, including DPR Construction’s Nashville office, Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing, and Uber’s Mission Bay Office Towers 3 and 4.

SSR’s IWBI Cornerstone membership provides reduced registration / certification fees and direct lines of communication with the IWBI for project-specific certification criteria, reducing costs and increasing team collaboration to meet our clients’ goals.

The IWBI recently announced the launch of the WELL Health-Safety Rating for all building and facility types, an evidence-based, third-party verified rating focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, and design strategies to address a post-COVID-19 environment. SSR is closely monitoring the developments around this rating and reaching out to clients who we feel would benefit from this certification.
